Divination Meaning Upright: When Ear appears in a cast or pull, it carries with it a sense of finality: That whatever the query is, it is time for it to be finished. When pulled or cast with Calc this meaning is only strengthened: it represents the finality of the Younger Futharks Yr, and carries that implication of the dark that comes for us all. No, these are not cheerful runes, but that does not mean they are negative. There is a finality in the cycle of everything that came before, that energy and life can become something new. These are the symbols of a pit stop on the road trip we call life.

Divination Meaning Reversed: Simply put: Stop stalling. It’s time to move forward and reach that final step, to follow through with the guidance that has been placed before you. There’s no need to overcomplicate it, trust yourself. You will know the answer when these appear reversed in a reading with the Futhorc.

Delving into the Runes: With all this talk of finality, you may think these would be the last Runes to cover, but alas they are not. If either Rune gets pulled it can speak volumes if we only lend our ears (see what I did there). In the sense of Norse magical practices or Seidr, these Runes are of utmost importance. It is due to this finality that we can go sit on the mound and seek consent for conversation by carrying these Runes and asking those interred, showing we revere them and respect their rest, that if they choose not to speak we will empty the chalice and give offering for safe passage and communication back to whence we came.

These Runes in my experience are two of the hardest to really define beyond what I have already divulged. They are blunt, honest, and do not have time to beat around the bush, much like those who we speak with from beyond this realm want to waste no time with small talk, and engage in real conversations. Many say necromancy is just divination through speaking with the dead, but in my eyes it is also the practice of keeping the beauty of death alive in the stories we can glean from ancestors, and the souls with a story to share from the veil beyond. There is beauty in finality, just lend those who have passed your Ear.
