Hope (Poetry)

(Circa November 2024)

It's been said many times in many ways that all one needs is hope. To keep the dark at bay we only need to turn on the light, that everything must cycle and there will always be good in the world. But in times like these what do we do when these sayings don't hold the weight we need them to?

Panic, division, strife, violence and the unknown terrify those of us in the opposition's sights. How do we find hope, and find good when we are making plans upon plans to leave the country, to hide, to survive, and ending relationships and burning bridges with friends and family that are pushing the agenda of fascism and feel safe doing so?

When all of basic humanity and its rights are on the verge of being attacked and stripped away, should our society be blind and vote fascism into leading the country? What are we supposed to do? Where are we supposed to find hope? How do we find good in the world?

The answer is as simple as it is difficult. Be the good, be the hope, and be every bit the being that you are. A saying that I will forever hold onto since becoming a parent is “bad parents don't worry about being good parents.” If you're worried about all the issues and things mentioned prior, you are already a beacon of light and hope. This is our “Gondor calls for aid” and we must answer to the very best of our ability to show others like us that we are here, and that they still matter and are just as important to the world, and are sorely needed.

I wrote and designed this poem and Bind Rune for all of us to bolster ourselves, to take up our courage and our hope, to hold on to the good and the strength to persevere through what may come, and to inspire others to do the same.

With love and blessings, Go forth with these words from the Wyrd.

Here we make our might known before all. Steadfast, stoic; strength in our numbers. Those like us, rise up and heed this call.

Here we make our mark upon this world with honor, courage and sacrifice. Let us lead this charge, justice for all.

Here we make the sounding of the horns; aid will be rendered, support will be found. We are the beacons and we are lit.

Here we make our stand against this tide and proclaim with the powers that be we will not go quietly into the night: we will not move, we will never quit. This is our fight and we will not move into the abyss.
