My Nazar Boncuğu (Spell/Ritual)
What exactly is a Nazar Boncuğu? It is an extremely common item in Turkish culture used to ward against the effects and magic of the Nazar or “evil eye” and most commonly takes the form of a beaded eye with concentric blue and white circles and a black pupil.
Why is this ward needed? In Turkish culture the Nazar is a deeply embedded concept of a curse, full of negative energy that is brought on by jealousy or envy. (When looking at today's society, it's no surprise we see the beaded eye practically everywhere).
The process of working against the Nazar when utilizing the Nazar Boncuğu and other wards from the culture is to deflect the Nazar away from the holder of the wards, and to shield them from it as well. For mine, I wanted to make a version that not only could I use to feed vampirically with, but to give other users another version, that not only deflects the energy, but absorbs it, and takes it and feeds it to Nidhoggr. If you're unfamiliar with that name, he is the Dragon that resides on the shore of corpses in Norse Mythology. He is tasked with punishing the oathbreakers (the capacity of this title is for another time). (Spg incoming) Nidhoggr is also a sin eater of sorts in the aspect of us offering our rage, guilt, sadness, and other negative feelings as offerings to him and he feeds on them in acceptance of the offerings. I decided to build this aspect into my version, as it is a consistent way to recycle the energy around us, and in turn cleaning the air around us. This is the version attached to the article, and is for all to use if they wish.
For me as a Baobhan Sith (this will be an upcoming post eventually,) I have a slightly different version. Instead of absorbing and feeding to a deity/entity it gets absorbed directly by me. Once absorbed it then gets transmuted/recycled into what could be considered clean energy that will top off my own energy levels essentially. It's also extremely important for me that the sigil doesn't just absorb those energies constantly directly to me because I don't need to feed constantly. To remedy this I included an overflow valve of sorts to take any excess energy and direct it to Nidhoggr.
