Even the Heroes have cast you aside. (Poetry)
What trouble have you incurred; what wrath brought forth?
That the heroes of old, and pillars of all good turn a disheveled eye your way.
Dismissive and judging, casting you aside
Instead of embracing you as a hero should.
Here they reveal their true nature, thus confirming the adage,
“Never meet your heroes.”
For how fast did said beings of volition shift?
How quickly did they reveal to instead be the villain?
Because you find solace in the dark and macabre
they belittle and call you a freak, saying “No do it this way.”
Enjoy the frivolity of excess of things that hold no true value.
Their showmanship falls on its face as you are no longer enthralled
By that of empty promises and thin veneered frivolity.
The heroes you once revered don't approve;
“This isn't what we made you,”
This isn't the example we set for you to follow like a dog Loyal and unquestioning.
“Why won't you do what we say?”
“Why do you hate us?”
“Why must you, you that is so weak and confused, be so different?”
“Love us! Be like us!”
“Be what we made you.”
It's there that you find your courage,
They did once make you, but no longer.
That's where they went wrong;
thinking they could control you to the point of totality.
Here they truly transform into that of the villain;
A being of wickedness now stands in the shell of a once gleaming hero.
Now what happens to you, the beaten down, the abused? The lied to and misled. The one who was clinging to their old life but now feels as if it has ended? If there are no more heroes who do you look up to? Where do you find solace?
You look to the one who is embracing themselves,
the one who has chosen joy, and what makes them; them.
You look to the one flourishing in their true nature, and embodiment.
You look to the one whose life is a beacon of hope.
That hope that you needed for so long to be unabashedly yourself.
You look to the one who is now a guiding light to those who are like you.
The lost soul; now the inspiration you once sought to find. You find a true hero. You have now found yourself.
