Cord Cutting (Spell/Ritual)
(Circa February 2025) Well it’s officially a website so I guess I should get started. A fun part of this process for me is since Im curating most of my work here it means I get to re-make Bind Runes and even birth new ones. I enjoy this because much of what I’ve made is not actually for personal use or even inspiration but for our communities at large. This is one of; if not my biggest joy when it comes to channeling and communicating with the Rúnvættir and together entering a beautiful flow state where we make things that are not just art in many beings’ eyes but also helping those same beings.
So here goes. The very first Bind Rune I breathed new life into is that of my cord cutting Bind Rune. A cord cutting in a spiritual sense is where a being symbolically severs emotional ties or energetic connections to that which no longer serves them. Especially apt for the times we are in if we’re being honest, and as such I wanted to write out the process of using it, as it is slightly different from the more traditional ritual.
Set Up:
A reference image of the Bind Rune one candle large enough for you to draw the Bind Rune on
An utensil to carve the Bind Rune onto the Candle
A way to light the candle.
A way to extinguish said candle if needed.
A fireproof dish/holder (fire safety yall.)
Anything else needed to set up your space in your way
Alternative Set Up: For those without access to candles or flames.
A reference image of the Bind Rune paper in a size where you can distinctly write out what you are going to accomplish with this ritual.
A way to shred or cut the paper (hands work too) a means of disposal that aligns with your practice

The Ritual:
Do these in the order that makes sense to you; after preparing your space and doing any pre-ritual activities of your choosing. I always like to include the reminder to drink your beverage, eat a snack, ground and cleanse-before and after a ritual.
Draw or carve the Bind Rune onto the candle or paper. If using the candle line up the main stave(line) with the wick of the candle. For this step if carving this is when you should recite what your goal and intent for the ritual is- targets, parameters, things of that nature.
If drawing the Bind Rune it is time to flip the paper over and write out what the goal of the ritual is after drawing the Bind Rune
Now that these steps are done if using the candle place it in the fire proof/resistant container/dish and utilize a final incantation of your creation and light the candle.
If you are going the drawing route this is the time to use your tool of choice and begin to rip, shred, or cut the paper. With each movement utilize a final incantation of your creation. As the candle burns continue to pour your intent and parameters into the working meditating in the space as the candle burns. Alternatively after you have no more paper to destroy it is now time to dispose of it in the way you chose, and in turn meditate on the ritual upon disposal.
Once the candle is out or your disposal/meditation is over it is now time to close your space, hydrate, eat, and cleanse/ground.
